The annual 'Call my Bluff wine tasting' was held on Friday 7th July 2017.
Call my bluff wine Tasting is designed to be fun wine tasting evening which requires absolutely no knowledge of the subject but does require a sense of humour.
A total of 6 wines in masked bottles are tasted - each of which have 3 descriptions read with varying degrees of accuracy - and teams have to use their skill and judgment (or just guess) which description was the real one. Needless to say, as the hour gets later the guesses become wilder!
There is also an (amusing?) wine related quizz to complete the evening.
With over 40 people present, the winning score was a reaosnable 24 (out of 40)!
Despite being primarily a social event, the evening raised £284. £100 was donated to VSO in support of Chris Eickhoff and his VSO trip to India.
The annual village fete was on Saturday 10th June and the weather was blowing a gale and constantly threatened rain - although it didn't start raining until 6:00pm. However, due to the threat and, indeed, forecast of rain the gymnastics display was cancelled which was a great shame.
However, as always it's a great day out for the whole family. There were a full range of traditional fete activities such as the bottle store, tent, Pimms tent, skittles, welly wanging, etc. and lots of stuff for the kids!
This year the Dog Show proved as popular as ever with the local MP, David Davies, judging The Prettiest Bitch and The Most Handsome Dog. David Davies also officially opened the fete.
New this year was a sheep race sponsored by Studwelders which proved very popular. Details on the race, the individual sheep sponsors, sheep names and the video are below.
A full range of histroic military vehicles were on display and a lucky few had rides in them. The police also turned out with a squad car complete with flashing lights and two tones. We also had a display of expensive sports cars and ocean rowing boat (Tiny Dancer) which will be taking part in the 2017 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge race - billed as the 'World's toughest row'. Team Oarstruck, as they are known, are aiming to raise £ 50,000 for Diabetes UK. Read more about it: Team Oarstruck

The Sheep Race was set out in a U shaped course with a challenging 'jump'. The sheep set off at, what can only be described as, 'grazing pace' and eventually made it to the jump. They all refused and the jump was eventually dismantled to allow the race to proceed which was eventually won by Lady Ba Ba sponsored by Vince & Julia Oliva. The complete list of runners, with their respective sponsors, is below. Our thanks to them. The YouTube video (cick here to it in YouTube in a new tab.) is well worth viewing!
