Village Fete - Saturday 13th June 2026

The fete was opened by the stilt-walking Lauren who then judged and gave out fancy dress prizes to the winners.

It's always a great day out for the whole family. There were a full range of traditional fete activities such as the bottle stall, the tent, the Pimms tent, the cake tent, the tea & cake room, the plant stall, skittles, welly wanging, the coconut shy, alpacas, toys, books, Local History Society, HM Coastguard, ice creams, sweets, the raffle, and lots more stuff for the kids! This year we also had a couple of vintage cars and music from the The Blues Conspirators followed by George playing his Sax. We also had a display from the Kestrel Gymnastics Club and the Widders Border Morris from Chepstow. Burgers and hot dogs were consumed, bottles of wine won, balloons made and lost and a good day out had by all. New this year was the Baked potato stand from the Carpenters Arms pub.

This year the Dog Show proved as popular as ever. Annually classes include: Best Child Handler (Primary School and Secondary School); Most Handsome Dog; Prettiest Bitch; Waggiest tail; Most appealing eyes; Best 6 legs (legs include the owner!); Dog most like its owner with an additional prize for the best dressed; Dog the judge (John Montague) would most like to take home; Best in show. Unfortuantely it appears records are not kept as to whether there are any repeat winners!

A very respectable total profit of around £6,200 was made.

Our thanks to all who donated raffle prizes for their generous support.
